Solar Mosaic pivoted from institutional to consumer lending and used the Nortridge Loan System to expand into this new market.

Company Overview

Mosaic is marketplace lender that connects consumers who want to install solar on their homes to its network of certified local solar contractors and provides a loan for the full cost of the solar panels and installation.

Business Challenge

A few years ago, Mosaic pivoted from institutional to consumer lending. The loan management software they were using wouldn't allow them to expand to the new consumer loan product, so they went shopping. They needed a loan management system that was scalable, flexible, and could grow with then.

The Solution

The Nortridge Loan System provided the platform they needed. They use NLS for loan accounting and servicing, fees, general ledger, multiple disbursements, among other features. They especially appreciate the application programming interface (API), which has allowed them to easily interface with existing platforms as well as their proprietary payment and origination systems.

Results

Since going live with NLS in July 2014, Mosaic has experienced tremendous growth. In fact, they expect to have $1 billion in loan volume by mid 2017. "NLS's flexibility, pricing of the SaaS product, and the API integration abilities were key reasons Mosaic chose Nortridge," said Tony Bako, chief technology officer. "Combing NLS with our proprietary systems has given us a powerful platform that saves us time on nearly every function."
